What will happen when Turkey goes into European Union?

The European union is consisted from 27 European countries which have common interests on politics and economics. Turkey's candidacy to join the European Union was made April 14, 1987. Turkey has been an associate member of the European Union (EU) and its predecessors since 1963. Negotiations began October 3, 2005.The membership bid has become a major controversy of the ongoing enlargement of the European Union.What will happen when Turkey goes into European Union? The membership of Turkey to EU will affect Turkey’s economy and politics in a bad way drastically.
To begin with,the economy of Turkey will be affected badly by the EU membership.As a developing country Turkey will become more dependent on other other EU countries economically. Turkey’s region power is very important and also the world is affected by both of its regional power and economical power. According to contract signed among EU countries, member states can deal with free trade among whole EU countries,without Visa.If Turkey turns into free trade place it will also turn into an open market.This situation lead to more import and less export in Turkey and its results can be really bad such as wide budged gap.At the same time,because EU is using Euro,Turkish Lira will lose its worth. In the following years 1 TL may be equal to 5 £.The another important point is Turkey’s richful resources. EU countries will want to exploit Turkey’s rich resources. Turkey has a very large and diverse mineral deposits. Copper, gold, iron lead, mercury, silver, tin, baron and other metals have been mined since ancient times.Same way,Turkey is one of the few countries in the world that is self-sufficient in terms of food. Fertile soil of the country, access to sufficient water, climate, and farmers who work hard, all make for a thriving agricultural sector. In addition, a wide range of crops can be raised because of the variety of different climates across the country. EU countries,naturally, will want to exploit this resources under the mask of free trade,with export from Turkey low price to use their army and factories.
The second element is Turkey’s political stability.Turkey is home to very different ethnic identities,religions and sects etc. This multiplicity has been living together in same homeland brotherly and peacefully for centuries.Kurds,Arabs,Zazas and Circassians are prominent minorities. EU wants Turkey to make more reforms for minorities and these reforms which contain demands making autonomy possible. If Turkey goes into EU,these demands may cause bad results which lead to independence of minorities in the coming years.These reforms which EU wants especially for the Kurds can affect the other minorities so they will want their own rights for independence. In this sense,EU can be the most important step to danger of dichotomy for Turkey. In other words as Turkey is expecting a positive result it can face with a negative one. Another important point is the sensibilities of Turkey in the matter of foreign policy. In World War I,after Armenians slaughtered Turkish citizens in the eastern and southeastern,Ottoman Empire made them immigrate to the southern and eastern regions. Armenian lobby use this incident against Turkey.EU criteria demand for legitimising of Armenian incident. If Turkey acknowledge this incident to going into EU,it will have captulated to significantly its stability. Turks who live in Cyprus faced with injustice and cruelty before 1974.In 1974 Turkey landed troops to the island using its right to guarentee and Turkish Republic of Cyprus was founded. South Cyprus has got in EU in recent years.EU wants Turkey to open its ports to South Cyprus and in return of this demand,Turkey wants legitimising of Turkish Republic of Cyprus. If Turkey goes into EU it has to acknowledge South Cyprus and this leads to bad results such as suit for damages. Another issue which EU stipulates is uniting of South and North. In this case the island will slide into the chaos which occured before 1974.So this will damage the stability of Turkey.
All in all,EU membership of Turkey will not lead to good result,on the contrary EU will damage to Turkey in economical and political area.Without the Visa,Turkey’s more import and less export result in economic bottleneck.Also,mine,boron and rich agricultural products are Turkey’s very important resources.EU may want,even exploit, this richness extremely to use their industrial output and improvement of military. People know that boron carbide is used for inner plates of ballistic vests. Likewise,political stability of Turkey will suffer this membership.Imposition of reform about minorities,imposition of opening Turkey’s ports to South Cyprus and,imposition of acknowledging Armenian issues will cause bad results for Turkey.
